The Barefoot Storyteller

Welcome to the home page of The Barefoot Storyteller! Barefoot Storytelling celebrates the oral tradition of storytelling for children, bringing a treasure trove of folktales to life with lots of improvisation and audience participation. All you need to bring is your imagination...
Many of my stories are based on the award winning Barefoot Books which you can also buy online from my sister website barefootbooks-online.com.
You can see the Barefoot Storyteller every month for Jackanory Live at The Egg theatre in Bath. Why not come along and enjoy an interactive storytelling session for pre-schoolers and their carers. For further details or tickets please call the The Egg box office on 01225 823409/448844 or go to www.theatreroyal.org.uk/the-egg.
A standard birthday party with The Barefoot Storyteller includes a story told orally (based on a theme such as princesses, pirates, faeries, dragons, knights…). Then a craft session where the children make a prop related to the story (eg a princess hat). Finally, The Barefoot Storyteller will tell the story again with lots of improvisation and participation from the children. Such a session will typically last 1 hour. In addition, the birthday girl or boy will receive the book of the story as a special gift from The Barefoot Storyteller. I can also supply heavily discounted Barefoot Books as an alternative to party bags.
My recent projects have included:
- The Egg Theatre, Theatre Royal, Bath
- Neston Summer Fete
- Ecolerne
- Numerous children’s parties
