About Barefoot Storytelling
Barefoot Storytelling celebrates the oral tradition of storytelling for children and adults alike, bringing a treasure trove of folktales to life with lots of improvisation and audience participation.
To join in with Barefoot Storytelling, all you need to bring is your imagination…
Most of the stories I tell are based on tales from within the pages of Barefoot Books. Indeed, these gorgeous, award-winning children’s books are truly my inspiration and are what led me to discover my talent as a storyteller.
I tell tales at a variety of venues including:
- The Egg, Theatre Royal, Bath
- libraries throughout Wiltshire
- local schools
- local nurseries & pre-schools
- museums
- arts centres
I also take bookings for children’s birthday parties. A standard birthday party with The Barefoot Storyteller involves:
-
an oral telling of a story based on an agreed theme such as princesses, pirates, faeries, dragons, knights etc.
-
the children then get the chance to enjoy a craft activity, making an item relevant to the story, for example a princess’ hat or a knight’s shield
-
finally, we will act out the story again with lots of improvisation and participation from the children.
Such a session will typically last 1 hour. In addition, the birthday girl or boy will receive the book of the story as a special gift from The Barefoot Storyteller. I can also supply heavily discounted Barefoot Books as an alternative to party bags.
